Positive Thinking –
Envision Your Better Future
Look into yourself and ask a question. Where do you see yourself in ten years? You may envision yourself a bit further along in your career, a house and family, more travel, any number of things. Now ask yourself a very different question: Where do you WANT to be in ten years? This answer comes through positive thinking. In many cases, you will find that the answer is different. All too often, people consign themselves to a future much milder than their dreams, having lost motivation somewhere along the road, and lack positive thinking. You may say to yourself, “That's not even realistic. It doesn't make money anyways. I have priorities”, or any number of things for you to mentally justify that your dreams are dying. THEY AREN'T DEAD YET. But you can continue crushing them until they are.
The way that you view the world is your reality. This is the true power of positive thinking. When you make a choice, that choice becomes a part of your reality; YOU ARE CHOOSING NOT TO LIVE YOUR DREAMS SINCERELY. This is a serious matter, because doing this is allowing you to deprive yourself of a sense of your self-identity, and give you a feeling as though you don't deserve the future that you see. In fact, you may even have had naysayers try to convince you that you don't deserve your dreams, or that it was unrealistic.
Stop listening to them; what
they are doing is projecting their own realities onto you due to the
regrets that they may hold. Don't allow this to deter your from your
own vision. Do you even have a clear image of your vision? I'm sure
we all have that one thing that, in a perfect world, we would pursue
with full vigor. That thing is exactly what you need to start
believing as a reality. Here are some steps to help you to approach
that goal with positive thinking.
- Do an activity called mindfulness
meditation. Try to find a quiet place where you'll be uninterrupted
for 5 to 10 minutes. Sit in a comfortable position, and close your
eyes. Don't fall asleep. Ask yourself, “What do I want to be doing
in the future? How will I do this? How will it feel?”. Then engage
in meditation, allowing your thoughts to pass freely through your
mind. Pass freely is operative here, because we often are our own
worst critics, and can pass great judgment upon our own thoughts.
Resist the urges to do so here and allow the thoughts to continue in
this manner uninterrupted. Your mind will subconsciously direct you
to the answers to those questions. Try to envision these answers as
vividly as possible, engaging smell, taste, touch, and all senses
into the visualization to make it feel even more tangible. Use very positive thoughts to strengthen this visualization. Do this
once or twice a day for 21 days, then feel free to try step two.
- Now that you have a clear vision
of what you want to do, outline the steps necessary to get there.
Will you have to do some networking? Do you need to take a class to
do so? How can you order your affairs so that you can engage your
dreams freely? Write all of these things down, in order of
importance. Tackle the biggest obstacles first; do so one step or
day at a time so as not to lose your motivation, and be sure to take
one step toward removing that obstacle on a daily
basis. As Dan Gable said, “If it is important, do it everyday.”
These are the major things blocking you from realizing your true
self, which is pretty important, so approach these things safely and
daily. Then move down the list until you have cleared your path for
your game plan. The path is clear for you to take, but you won't
reach your passion to the fullest without a plan. Just like step 2,
make a list of important tasks, but these are the tasks that you
have to do to propel you to your dream. List them in order of
importance, and start on the first task immediately. Brainstorming
is the most important step in this process, but the success of your
brainstorm lies in your action. Again, take action on these tasks
everyday. When approaching these tasks, don't attempt to multitask.
Put 100% of your focus into these dreams for the time that you have,
even if 10 minutes, because this will encourage you to be fully
concentrated when you need to focus.
has a strong correlation with order; you are not spiritually or
mentally in order if your biggest desires aren't being manifested.
Create your reality with confidence, and then live it. Positive thinking will make the biggest difference in your life.
